For February meetup we will be continuing with the Discourses of Epictetus, reading the first half of Book 3, chapters 1-20. In this section we will continue to learn how to train the will to be in accordance with nature, to calmly bear affliction and to properly use the gifts we have been given.
We will also be reading notebook 4 of the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius this month, studying how we have the power within ourselves to maintain our mental independence, which in turn allows us to be better citizens. Small format change, we will begin the discussion this month with the Meditation entry, then move on the Discourses to ensure we give the ample time to go over both.
